Founders Foreword

"The idea was to allow all Western Australians regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, and religion to join in and share their cultural heritage while embracing Australian values and way of life."

I established Face WA models and Pageants in 2017 with the view to empower the contestants and allow them to show their inner beauty while embracing and celebrating their Australian and multicultural heritage.

With the support and assistance from our Vice President Nigel David, we formed Multi-Cultural Integration Australia (MCIA) in 2020 with a vision of promoting relationships and understanding of different cultures in Western Australia, and sharing the beauty of our state with the world.

Our membership comprises individuals from Face WA, established in 2017, as well as associations representing diverse ethnic, cultural, welfare, and corporate groups across Africa, Latin America, Asia, the Philippines, India, the Middle East, Europe, and Australia. We are a not-for-profit organisation and have been providing a range of services free of charge or at a low and heavily subsidised rate on functions held to promote our members of all ages since our inception.

We currently operate from my workshop and have helped members originally from the Philippines and other ethnic communities. We realise the need to set up a centre to cater to the needs of our multicultural sector and will seek to obtain grants from various government bodies including Lottery WA.

I am excited about the future of MCIA and Face WA, and I believe that we can make a real difference in the lives of people from all walks of life. I would like to thank all our members, volunteers, and supporters for their continued hard work and dedication.

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome our new President Dr Mariyam Shakeela -  a doctoral graduate of Curtin University who worked in diverse fields including business and teaching, prior to joining politics as a Cabinet Minister in the government of Maldives.

As a politician, she undertook duties in several Ministries: Environment and Energy, Foreign Affairs, Gender Family and Human Rights, and Health. At present apart from holding a diplomatic position as Honorary consul for Belgium in Maldives, she is CEO of SIMDI Group of companies.
